The BLADES2BUILD project is funded by the European Union through the European Commission call HORIZON-CL5-2022-D3-01-02 – Demonstration of innovative materials, supply cycles, and recycling technologies to increase the overall circularity of wind energy technology and to reduce the primary use of critical raw materials. The project will run for three years, starting in January 2023, and will leverage collaboration among multiple industrial partners and leading European universities across eight European countries. GCS is responsible for the dissemination, communication, exploitation and development of the BLADES2BUILD Knowledge Hub.
CIRCULess, a groundbreaking EU-funded initiative coordinated by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), is pioneering the transformation of mineral and timber-based waste from Europe’s construction and manufacturing sectors into valuable secondary resources. By integrating eco-design, advanced logistics, precise quality control, and state-of-the-art digital solutions, CIRCULess aims to foster a sustainable, resource-efficient, and circular European economy. GCS is leading the Dissemination and Communication activities of the project. GCS is also having a primary role in organisation of outreaching events, development of project visual identity and fostering synergies with existing projects or initiatives.
The TerraTwin Horizon Europe project aims to develop a holistic DTE (Digital Twin of Ecosystem) tool to better understand the complex interplay between climate change and marine and terrestrial biodiversity. This will be accomplished by leveraging existing multiparametric data from various sources, for marine, land, soil and atmospheric biodiversity, which will be used to feed and train the DTE, which in turn will offer innovative features, such as data analytics, anomaly detection, predictive capabilities, feedback loops, policy recommendations and connection with other tools and databases. In TerraTwin, GCS leads the socio-economic modelling, coordinating the socio-economic modelling of datasets covering marine and terrestrial ecosystems, the anthroposphere, and economic systems. These datasets will be integrated into a unified framework to capture the interconnections between nature, society, and the economy. GCS will also conduct a comparative assessment of different scenarios to identify vulnerabilities and regions or sectors at higher risk, and suggest opportunities for adaptation and recommendations.
